IDN - International Domain Names

What is an IDN?

IDN stands for Internationalized Domain Name, also known as multilingual domain names. It allows you the possibility to use more characters in domains names, besides letters and numbers. It uses characters available in other alphabets, like accents.

Example of IDN domains:

Chinese IDN 毒瘤.com which means cancer
If you go to 毒瘤.com you will see the domain is targeted towards cancer but in English.

Romanian IDN divorţ.com you will see the domain is targeted towards divorce but in English.

Polish IDN pieniądz.com you will see the domain is targeted towards money/currency but in English.

Greek IDN βίβλοσ.com you will see the domain is targeted bible/books but in English.

.cn with Chinese results: 例子.cn you will see the domain is samples but in Chinese.

Al these are targeted through http://parkingsite.com and take 5 days to target once a keyword is given.

What browsers support IDN names today?

Only the latest version of Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2 support IDN Names directly entered into the browser.

IE6 and earlier versions will not support IDNs.

What TLDs or ccTLDs support IDN?

First of all what I am saying with that question is what extensions can be registered like and IDN. Can I register毒瘤.com? 毒瘤.net? 毒瘤.org? 毒瘤.cn? 毒瘤.jp? and what others can I register.

Here is a list of the ones that I have registered:

.com
.net
.tv
.cc
.jp = Japan
.cn = China
.de = Germany
.gr = Greece
.tw = Taiwan

Do all Registrars support IDN registrations?

No, as of writing this Enom does and so does Domainsite. There are others that do but mot d not. Please check with your registrar BEFORE you register any or you will get stuck with a long name that has no value whosoever.

What IDNs should you register?

You should use the same principles that you have learnt while registering English domain names. Go after the higher paying ppc terms first. Make sure if there are more than one way to say a word in any language that you get them all as you never know which ones will have the most traffic. I have registered quite a few dual meaning words and its never the one I think that has the most traffic.

女孩儿 ; 姑娘 ; 女孩子 all mean girl with slight variations in Chinese. In this case and such a major term, unless you speak the language, grab them all.

Google results for all of them:
女孩儿 - 1,870,000 results in Google
姑娘 - 4,460,000 results in Google
女孩子 - 2,840,000 results in Google

Most IDNs with Google over 1 million will have some traffic unless you get ridiculous generic terms like the which have no value whatsoever.

Also, as with English domains, dig a bit deeper. If loans is taken in the language you want go for things like home loans, car loans, boat loans and so on.

How to find and register IDNs?

There are many ways to find and register IDN domain names. The best way is obviously if you speak the language but even then you must be careful. Just like in English some common words will not actually be used and a short form may be used. In English most people know the word automobile but rarely would use it. Most would use the word car.

This can be illustrated by the two overture scores:

1572 http://automobile.com

18016 http://car.com

Now this does not mean automobile is not a good IDN to register, it just means go after the one that is more likely to be typed in a browser.

Now if you dont know anyone that speaks a language you are going after, your only choice is to use a good translator software, I suggest you use logos.it

When you enter a word it gives you results in multiple languages at one time and makes it really easy to get a keyword in multiple languages.

For example when you search for the word insurance you get:

English
insurance

Italian
assicurazione

Spanish
seguro ; aseguracin

French
assurance

German
Versicherung

Russian
cтрахование

Arabic
تأمين ; ضمان ; كفالة

Albanian
sigurim

Brazilian Portuguese

I have found that just like domains, the one I think will get the most traffic, surprisingly wont, but the languages I have never heard of get some traffic.

Now lets see how you go about registering IDN names:

Lets go to logos.it and look up the Russian word for weasel as an example which is ласка, so now I go download the IDN Domain Conversion Tool then open it up and paste ласка into the space unde the heading IDN Domains and hit the ok button. You will get a code called a PUNY code which is: xn--80aa3ac5a , then take that and add a .com on it and you will end up with this http://xn--80aa3ac5a.com. Now check a whois or try to register http://xn--80aa3ac5a.com and see if you get it. To keep it organized and try to keep my domains in one place I register most of my IDNs at Enom. There are other choices if you like. You can take the actual ID code and go to and type in the IDN and it will tell you if its available without doing the PUNY conversion but you should know how to do it anyways.

When I check now ласка.com is available.
In case you are wondering you cannot register ласка.ru yet as the Russian ccTLD does not support public IDN registrations yet.

If I find an IDN like ਬਿੰਗੋ (xn--f9b5b1c6b7k) should I register .com or .cn or both?

This really depends on how strong the term is, if its a great term and you have the $, by all mans register them both. If you dont my suggestion is get the .com. You will need to do some research here as every country operates differently. Some countries are big on their ccTLDs while others go for the .com first and only if thats taken will grab their ccTLD after that.

Personally, I have been registering the .coms and if its a great term I get the ccTLD for that country if its available.

To learn more about IDN Names visit the Domain Name Forum where all the domain experts hang out and chat.

Are all the good IDN names taken?

Absolutely not, take your time and do some mining and you will find gold in them mountains.

Remember dont expect miracles from IDN domains now, the miracles will come once most of the world has a browser that can support it.

Should you expect to make $ from your IDNs now?

No, if you are lucky you will have a few that make something., I have registered thousands of these and at least half have traffic so thats good enough for me to know the future will be great for these. Be patient they will be worth it in the long run.

Is there anything else I should know about IDNs?

Yes, there is lots more, please take the time to learn about Domain Names and feel free to ask and post your questions as thre are many IDN experts there and they will usually answer you within a few minutes.

I hope this helps some of you get started in what should be an interesting area of domains

Safeguard Your Assets In A Divorce

When going through a divorce it is very important to protect your assets. It is possible for an unsuspecting spouse to find on top of everything else, bank accounts were raided, stocks sold and insurance policies cashed.

If you are a woman going through a divorce try to have joint liquid accounts transferred to your name. You may have to get your husband to sign documents but some banks just need one party to do this.

The process is not so simple with assets such as stocks, mutual funds, bonds and other investments. Usually it is necessary to have both signatures to liquidate these assets, but, if you have signed a power of attorney in the past or if your husbands new girlfriend tries to sign up in your place, you may in trouble. To combat these circumstances, make sure all institutions are aware you are going through a divorce and ask them to check for identification before accepting a transaction.

One bad scenario would be if your husband runs off with a cash value of a life insurance policy. In this case, to protect yourself try to get that policy in your name. Sometimes the courts would require a husband to keep up the policy while you are separated. Another way to safeguard the assets is to keep track of account numbers and balances. Make copies for your attorney too. A wife should know what a husbands pension looks like. Knowledge is power. At the very least, this would reduce some anxiety around an already stressful situation.

The safeguarding goes both ways though. At this stage assets should be considered money you intend to protect until it can be divided equitably. However if you need to take out some money to pay for another marital asset like your home or child support then make sure your attorney understands the situation and has an account of it.

The Main Purpose of Advertising from a South African Perspective

The main purpose of advertising in the business world is to promote sales in order to boost profits. As such, advertising has three basic aims:

To inform To persuade and To remind

One of the most underestimated points is to REMIND. The cost of advertising is extremely high. One may therefore wonder if it is not a waste of money to advertise a product which is widely known and which has a good slice of the market. Take Coca-Cola for instance. It is known and is readily available in almost every city in the world and yet the company continues to advertise it. Why is this so, and is the company wasting profits?

As i have already said, advertisers aim to inform the public about new or improved products and services and to persuade them to buy or use them. However, once the company has a slice of the market, it needs to remind the public that the products or services are still available, or it may well lose out to its competitors. I would be willing to bet anything if Coca-Cola stopped informing the public about their products a company like Pepsi would be the next giant.

Many large companies have fallen into this trap, once they have their market they automatically assume people will carry on buying the products or services they offer. The ability to constantly inform consumers of a companies products and activities is an ongoing commitment that keeps major share holders in a specific line at the top.

People (consumers) are highly complex creatures and do not always behave or react as rationally as one would expect. Advertising and marketing companies realise that consumers DO NOT BUY COMMODITIES, there are only two things they buy, 1. good feelings 2. solutions. One does not need a degree in psychology to know that everyone wants to be accepted, that people fear rejection, and that most of us wish to be successful, wealthy, attractive and one step ahead of the Jones'es. Take for example toothpaste, the fact that oral hygiene is the most important 'feature' this alone won't sell the product. Constant advertising to inform consumers of the fact that toothpaste makes you 'nicer to be near', 'keeps your mouth tingling fresh', and gives you advanced breath freshness are the 'sell ilnes' used to sell toothpaste. Don't just sell me a suit, sell me a sleek look, a tailor made fit and custom label that will turn heads.

A product or service that has been around for a long time has to find new an innovative ways to sell their 'wares' as well as emerging products. How to inform potential customers of what they should be buying, or why they should be buying are as varied as mass of different products for sale on the global market.

The advertising industry is, of course aware of our desire to be as good as, if not better than, others and exploits this to their own advantage. By using all they know about consumer behaviour, advertisers manage to persuade the public to buy the products they are promoting. Powerful appeals to human nature are often hidden within the advertisment. The subtle way in which these messages are used to inform the consumer is what makes advertising such a fascinating study.

Link Tips to Increase your Google Ranking

An Internet business relies on website traffic. They find ways to drive traffic to their website from joint ventures to Google AdWords. This traffic provides a bounty of potential customers leading to sales. Another powerful method that drives traffic to your Internet business website is using links. Following is a list of link tips that not only increase the amount of traffic to your website, but can increase the quality of the traffic as well.

Link Tip #1: Always put several links to your website in the emails you send out. The goal of these emails is to get people to take action and go to your website. Provide clickable links at the top, middle, and in the P.S. at the end of the email. These links help train people to go to your website. Plus, having links in your email shortens the length of the email. This is easier on the eyes and attention span of the email reader. Essentially, you have short content in the email and then full content can be found when they click on the link and go to your website.

Link Tip #2: The right links can be powerful. Find websites that have a high page rank and relate to your website. Obtain a link from these websites to increase your ranking Google. Basically, you want to have high page rank sites that are related to your website pointing to you. For example, if you have a dog training website then you dont want to have an Internet marketing site pointing to you. Instead, you want a site about dog shows pointing to you. Quality links are very, very important.

Do you follow these two link tips? Some people falsely believe that quantity is better than quality. For example, they have a page full of links and not much content. The links may or may not come from Google high page ranked sites. The links may or may not relate to their website. These many low quality unrelated links can actually hurt them as search engines love related content and quality links.

Analyze the links on your website. See how you can modify them to increase your rank in Google.

Old Wives Tales For Telling A Baby's Gender

There's one question that seems even more pressing than Hamlet's philosophical to be or not to be? At least for expecting moms and dads, that is. It is: will it be a boy or a girl? In today's day and age, the answer to that question is not quite as difficult to answer as Hamlet's. That doesn't mean it's all that easy either.

With a trip to the doctor's office, a soon-to-be-mom can find out the sex of her baby via an ultrasound, or through other means like chorionic villus sampling and amniocentisis. Chorionic villus is a diagnostic test that can cause problems in pregnancy and should only be administered if absolutely necessary (it is used to determine if the baby is likely to have have genetic abnormalities). Amniocentisis is another diagnostic test with slight risks. Ultrasounds are more popular, as they can be performed at any stage of pregnancy and unless there is routine exposure of the baby to an ultrasound, it is likely a safe method. However, an ultrasound is not meant to only help determine a baby's sex and in fact, it is not always accurate (especially during the early stages of pregnancy).

Thus, there are a slew of ways that have been devised to figure out whether an unborn baby will be a boy or a girl some may have logical backing, but most if not all are completely baseless. But probably the most interesting methods of determining a baby's sex stem from old wives tales. So what are these tales and which ones have a grain or two of truth to them?

Well, the only real truth we know about old wives tales is that they are just that rumors that have passed from generation to generation. Thankfully, they are innocuous rumors, unless of course one takes them too seriously and starts picking out clothes and furniture for a boy baby, only to greet a little girl on the operating table. Hopefully, the new parents kept those receipts. Another truth we know about old wives tales is that their origin is sketchy who thought up each tales is pretty much unknown. But they sure are fun.

So, whether or not you're having fun playing the guessing game about your own baby or are just plain curious, here is a list of old wives tales to think about.

Do you sleep on your left or right side at night? If you prefer your right, then you just might be having a boy! If you sleep on your left, a girl could be on the way. Even the dryness or softness of your skin can help you predict your baby's sex if you have soft hands, expect a girl; dry hands, a boy. Moreover, many pregnant woman crave interesting foods, but supposedly the specific kinds of food you crave can indicate what sex your baby is. If you constantly want salty foods, like french fries, you're due for a boy, whereas if you have a taste for sweets, like chocolate pie, prepare for a girl. And the old wives tales hardly stop there. Do you feel clumsy or elegant as a pregnant woman? If you're dropping your keys and stumbling over pairs of shoes, you might have a baby boy on the way, but if you feel graceful on foot, it's probably a baby girl. Even the size of your breasts can be a factor. It's common to have asymmetrical breasts, so by examining which breast is larger, you can also put the clues together to your baby's sex. If a pregnant woman's left breast is bigger, it's a girl; if the right breast is, it's a boy.

Furthermore, according to these recycled wives tales, morning sickness is not a symptom of every pregnancy, but only of those pregnancies of women who are carrying a girl. In other words, nausea means you better decorate the nursery pink. In fact, there are a bunch of signs you can look out for if you're having a girl. While soft hands mean you're having a girl, so do pesky breakouts on your skin.

And if you're craving citrus fruits, or become rather plump in your face, or experience several emotions throughout the day, then you are having a girl.

You can also guess your baby's gender by the way they sit in your uterus. You will feel heaviness in the lower area, if it's a boy, and if you feel pressure higher up, if it's a girl. As well, do you feel the baby in your front or in the middle? Boys, apparently, tend to take a seat up front, while girls prefer to situate themselves all around the middle.

As fascinating and fun as these tales are, they are just that tales. They have no scientific substance to them whatsoever and should only be used for entertainment purposes! Especially considering that a lot of these tales (and these are just a handful of them) seem to be born of cultural stereotypes of boys and girls, not any clear logic, they should be approached with a healthy dose of skepticism.

But considering how ultrasounds aren't 100% accurate, why not play the guessing game? Ideally, it's best to wait far into the pregnancy to get an ultrasound or simply expect for the unexpected, but in the meantime, ask yourself do you want a sweet cookie or some salty fried chicken?

Why Luxury Baby Gifts?

Luxury is a word that evokes feelings of beauty and opulence. Imagine a luxury yacht or a luxurious cashmere sweater and you immediately think of magnificence and indulgence. But how about luxury baby gifts? In the past you may not have heard the word luxury linked to baby items, but it most definitely is today. And why shouldnt it be after all, babies have the most delicate, precious skin that deserves to be treated with the utmost care.

If youre in the market for a baby gift or something for your own child, consider something more luxurious, or high-end, this time. To many, the word luxury is synonymous with expensive, but there are many luxury baby goods that dont come with a luxurious price tag. Instead, the problem may lie more in finding these more affordable items as opposed to affording them.

Some luxury baby items tend to be made by well-known, popular retailers that are found in high-end shopping centers or big cities items that only the very wealthy can afford to splurge on. But there are more independently owned companies cropping up that specialize in luxury items such as all-natural, organic, and handmade baby products. These can also come with high price tags, but tend to be more affordable than popular retailers.

Less-pricey luxury items can be found at smaller boutiques or online retailers that specialize in high-end baby items. These items may not always be labeled as luxury items, so youll have to scout them out on your own. Just look for products of the utmost quality such as handmade blankets with a high thread-count or made from organic fabric; hand-painted wooden toys with non-toxic paint; all-natural or organic bath items using calming ingredients such as lavender and chamomile; and special touches such as fabric-covered photo albums or frames, satin-lined clothing or a beautifully presented journal where parents can save their most precious memories.

Of course luxury items can come with a steep price tag, but nowadays beautifully made luxury items come in many price ranges. Just be on the look out for smaller shops that take the time and care to focus on making beautiful, thoughtful baby items. And look around for what fits your budget. You may be surprised to find that most boutiques carry both affordable and higher priced items all under one roof. And when you shop at an online boutique or neighborhood shop you can also feel good about yourself youll be helping to keep some of the most creative and talented people in business.

Thing To Consider When Buying Used Harley Davidson Motorcycle

Buying a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle is fairly easy. All you have to do is pick a model, visit local dealers, test drive the Harley, and pay in financing or in full. However, buying a used Harley-Davidson motorcycle is a different story. Since it is already used, you should be more extra careful in closing your deal immediately. Here are the things you should consider if you want to buy used Harley-Davidson motorcycle:

Motorcycle history Since you are not aware of things that have happened while you are yet the owner of the motorcycle, you need to know its history. Here you will learn if it was involved on accidents or have been submerged under water. These information are vital since you want to buy a good used Harley.

Price One of the reasons why you buy used Harley-Davidson motorcycle is because you want to save. If you are not aware of the current market value of the model you are buying, then it is time for you to make some research.

Overall Condition Whether you are buying a 1978 or a 2005 model, you have to consider the overall condition of the motorcycle. Never disregard this since you will be the one who will take the whole responsibility of your purchase in case you have bought an ill-maintained motorcycle.

Check the exterior or the motorcycle as well as its performance. Like buying used cars, you should check everything and test-drive the vehicle. Check the sound and the engine. Check for rusts, dents, and other things that may affect the price of the Harley.

Mileage Since the mileage reading is the main basis of the price of the any type of used vehicle including the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, you must check it and base it on the price being offered.

Proximity This may not be very important for some. But for those who want to get to see the used Harley motorcycle being sold, location is very important. If a Harley-Davidson seller happens to be near you, you can easily visit and have the deals made fast.

Owners background This does not mean you have to investigate thoroughly the owner by hiring an investigator and make a report for you. All you have to do is to ask the seller questions related on how does he take care of the motorcycle while in his possession. Or, if you happen you have a chance to meet the owner, be observant on the things around him. Surely, you will get clear idea on how well he is as a motorcycle owner.

How To Negotiate A Starting Salary For A New Job

When you are looking for a new job, advice on how to evaluate and negotiate an appropriate starting salary is invaluable. We've teamed up with acclaimed salary negotiation expert and author, Jack Chapman, to bring you practical advice on negotiating a proper starting salary.

Five simple starting salary rules:

Rule #1) Postpone talking about starting salary until there's an offer on the table
Rule #2) Let the other person name a figure first
Rule #3) Repeat their starting salary offer and be quiet
Rule #4) Share your researched starting salary range and establish your individual value
Rule #5) Clinch the deal and deal some more

Starting Salary Rule #1 - When to Discuss Starting Salary

There's not much point in discussing starting salary unless you're sure you're going to get an offer, make sense? But more than that, it's not to your advantage to talk about your starting salary. When an employer asks "what are your salary requirements?" or "what are you currently earning?" they are gathering information on your likely expectations. There are maybe two or three right answers to this question and more than 20 wrong ones. Too high and you're screened out, too low and you'll lose money in the initial offer, or you'll be eliminated as under-qualified based on your low salary requirements.

The proper time to discuss your starting salary is after the job position has been defined and you are sure the employer understands what you are bringing to the table.

Until then, a good postponing phrase would be, "All I'll require is a competitive salary. I will likely be using PayScale and other resources to help determine that -- as I presume you will, too. So I'm confident the starting salary will take care of itself, if I'm the right person for the job."

Starting Salary Rule #2 - Who Goes First

When they're ready to make an offer, here's a second piece of timing advice: don't haul out your research too soon! When it comes to discussing your starting salary, let the employer go first. That way you have a firm starting point that you can be assured of, when it is your turn. Generally, you'll want to bump the starting salary up 5-10% or more. But, in the worst case scenario, if they go first, you certainly won't get less than their initial offer. Additionally, there is always the chance that they will exceed the starting salary figure you were planning to mention.

NOW do you show your salary research? NO.... Not yet.

Starting Salary Rule #3 - Repeat The Offer And Be Quiet

Once they go first, you respond by repeating their starting salary offer and remaining silent. If they have given you a low-ball offer, and they know it, now is the time for them to increase their offer. Okay, Ive heard the offer, Ive greeted it with silence, now do I get to use my salary report?

Maybe...

Starting Salary Rule #4 - Share Your Researched Range and Establish Your Individual Value

If you are reading this article, you have probably done some research about what your salary should be. If you haven't or want more accurate and reliable salary information, complete our brief salary survey to determine what the average salary and salary range is for your new position.

Now that you have the salary information necessary for negotiating, I want you to learn the value of having PayScale salary report in hand. The best way to leverage a PayScale salary report for a successful negotiation is to set your own expectations about how you will use your report. Know what information your report contains, and especially know what the data represents - what is behind the numbers - before taking it to the boss or a potential employer.

When you compared your research with your offer, you were either under market, over market, or right in the range. If your salary research indicates that the offer is below the range for your specific job and responsibilities, now is the time to share your research with the employer and discuss how the employer arrived at his/her estimates. Often you will find some points of disagreement on which to negotiate an increase.

Keep in mind that the employer will likely view compensation data differently than the employee. Two common points the employer may wish to discuss are the sources used to obtain the data in the report, and whether the data in the report matches your job profile, the company profile, and job location.

Finally, when a company wants to buy your time and effort, remember it's a human being who makes the decision. It isn't a cut and dried assessment; it's a rational-emotive process that takes into account many factors that aren't always fair or logical. Your awareness of these factors can greatly improve your chances for improving your salary.

Starting Salary Rule #5 - Clinch the Deal and Deal Some More

Finally, you receive a salary that you can live with and is fair. Do you sign it then? Well, yes and no. Yes, you now have a firm base to agree to, that you know you will be happy with. But, don't stop! It is now time to put your attention on the other factors of the salary-equation gold mine.

How to Get Many More Visitors to Subscribe to Your List!

Some months ago I read an article on growing your opt-in email list.

The article explained the reason why you need to sell whatever it is youre giving away. People are skeptical and rarely value anything that they get for free, so this got me thinking.

Whether or not people pull cash out of their pocket to purchase your ebook is beside the point. You still have to sell it to them....

..or to be more precise they have to be sold on it before they will:

1) Take the time to read your proposal of a free gift;
2) Wait while it downloads; then
3) Learn and profit by reading or using it!

Intentionally or unintentionally before most people take advantage of a free offer of any kind, they look at the "opportunity cost" (i.e. taking up your offer over any other proposal they have been presented with recently).

If your offer is convincing enough, most people will take the opportunity to at least read your proposal and download what you are selling them for free.

A well put together, benefit loaded, convincing proposal is a necessity to a free offer.

An excellent example of this strategy can be found at
http://www.bettermarketingtoolbox.com/recommends/LTB

No matter what you may read in countless marketing books, simply placing a couple of free items on a page and expecting your visitors to join your list is absolutely the WRONG approach - and it's the most likely reason that your visitor to sales conversion is low!

You must persuade them to join your list by selling them on what you are providing as a free solution to some of the problems they may be facing.

So, the next time you make a decision to give away a freebie as an incentive for subscribing to your email list, think again about this suggestion of selling the free gift first... make it indispensable to the person reading your web page and you'll get many more loyal subscribers.

Diaper Bags - Convenience and Fashion

Carrying a diaper bag is a necessity if you are a parent on the go. The baby diaper takes up very little space, however it is the bottles, wipes, toys, change of clothing etc. that can be a big hassle to lug around all day. We all have to use diapers bags if we travel with our babies, but they don't have to be overwhelming and ugly. We don't have to carry those heavy plastic bags around anymore if we don't want to. We have fashionable options that make using them a great deal easier.

You can get the convenience of a diaper bag and make a fashion statement at the same time. Designer diaper bags are becoming the biggest fashion statement for new parents to make. It's not only celebrities and rich people who use these anymore because designer diaper bags have gotten to be much more cost effective. You can find these designer diaper bags in many different styles, colors, fabrics and designs. My favorite right now is the sling bag, which looks like a modern sling back pack.

I know that when you are caring for a baby or two, that it is hard to find the time and the motivation to always look smart. You spend so much time on the children with the constant attention they need for feeding, changing and amusing, that you take a second place to it all. However, it is important to give yourself some time to in your busy day to be able to care for your self. While a designer diaper bag may seem like a luxury, it is one small way that you can pamper yourself so that when you are out you can feel smarter with a designer accessory.

I personally love the new back pack diaper bags because it provides me with more freedom for my arms. I am finding that fewer parents are struggling to hold the baby; push the stroller, carry the diaper bag, and heaven forbid the cell phone starts ringing. These new back pack diaper bags make it far easier for parents to multi task, and it is causing less stress for the traveling parent. They work wonders if you are traveling by bus. They allow parents to take many more calming breaths, which we all need; especially since it seems that whenever you are trying to multi task with your baby in your hands, this is the moment when your baby starts to cry. The back pack diaper bag was a life saver to me, and can be one for you too.

Even men have to tote diapers around sometimes and Michael Jennings prefers to look cool when doing so using a diaper backpack. To see other cool diaper bag ideas visit his website ==> http://www.trendier-diaper-bags.comHana Blog34064

Laundry - The Neverending Story?

Laundry can be a huge time sucker and it's the task many Moms dread most. It doesn't have to be this way. Here are some tips to help you tame the laundry beast.

Minimize

Minimize the amount of laundry you do by creating new standards of "dirty". If you wear a pair of jeans for two hours then put on your shorts, are the jeans dirty? Not in my house. Pajamas put on a clean body at night after a bath and worn once aren't dirty either. Ditto for a towel that blots a freshly scrubbed body. Teach your kids that dirty means it has food or obvious dirt marks on it. The exception? Underwear of course!

Minimize sorting by putting a hamper in each bedroom that has 3 slots. One for whites, one for darks, one for mixed colors. For kids that are very young, try cutting out a large circle from construction paper for each category. Tape these on the wall above the hamper to show where to put each color. Alternately, you could buy inexpensive colored bins that match laundry colors.

Train your kids to bring you their dirty laundry at the beginning of each day or at some other time you choose. Don't turn socks right side out for laundering. Show your family members how to take off their socks without bunching them into an inside out ball. If they don't choose to listen to your sock lessons, let them turn their own socks right side out.

You may be able to minimize sorting even more by washing more clothes together. Many times light colors can go into the wash with mixed colors if you use cold water and the items aren't brand new. Typically only cheap clothing fades anyway so buy your kid's clothing from the nicer stores. It will last longer and wash well.

Some important questions to ponder: Do underwear need to be "folded" or can they be neatly placed flat in drawers? What about small T shirts and shorts? Do socks need to be matched up or can they be thrown into plastic boxes in a drawer and matched up by the wearer? Important questions, these!

Delegate

In some homes, the person who dirties the laundry is responsible for taking the laundry to the washing up area. If clothing doesn't make it there (meaning it's stuffed under beds, in corners of closets or otherwise lying on the floor), it doesn't get washed. Natural consequences work well for laundry. The first time your daughter doesn't have her favorite shirt that she just has to wear to the mall, she'll remember to get it to the laundry room. When hubby has no boxers, he may be motivated to get them in the hamper too. Developing "laundry on the floor blindness" is helpful for a Mom!

Older kids can be taught how to use the washing machine and dryer. Kids ages 2 and up can help with folding and getting clean laundry to their dressers. Even a toddler can "match corners" to fold washcloths and put their undies and socks in dresser drawers. Most youngsters think folding laundry is fun. Keep this myth going with them as long as humanly possible!

Don't Procrastinate

Some tasks don't take longer to complete if you procrastinate a bit. Vacuuming, for instance, takes roughly the same amount of time to complete whether you do it daily or weekly. Laundry is not one of these chores. Doing a load of laundry a day is preferable to tackling a mountain of dirty clothes that have set in stains, bad odors and maybe even mildew. Be sure to finish the job completely- putting the load into the dryer quickly so the clothes don't sour. Then remove from the dryer promptly for folding so they don't wrinkle.

As long as we continue to eat, sweat and move about, we'll have to deal with laundry. Hopefully these tips will help you spend a little less time dealing with the repercussions of being human!

Why My Internet Business Improved When I Got My Own Domain Name

Many people seeking to start internet business often ask themselves, "Why should I get my own domain name when there are plenty of free web hosting services around?" Or they might say, "I have joined an affiliate program, and they provided me a great looking website. What do I need my own domain name for?"

I'm not going to knock free hosting, because that's how I got started in internet marketing. The sites I created with free hosting services made money for me, and many are several years old and still making money for me. However, there are several benefits that I learned about when I got my own domain names.

1. The sites were neater and less distracting. A free hosting service will normally support its operations, at least in part, by putting banners on a site or by having popups, or both. Not only does this detract from the general appearance of the site, but it may cause visitors to your website to leave quickly and it may disguise your internet business in the sea of advertising which surrounds it. When I got my own domain name, all the clutter disappeared and my internet business became the only focus of the site.

2. I was able to improve the visibility of my internet business to the internet surfer when I got my own domain name. This actually improves visibility in more than one way.

First, I was able to pick domain names that reflected the thrust or intent of my internet business. For example, if a surfer is looking for travel agencies in New York City, the URLs newyorkcitytravelagency.xxx or nycitytravel.xxx are more likely to catch the eye than iwouldreallyliketogetyourtravelbusiness.xxx.

Second, many successful internet businesses have used a ploy of catching the surfer's eye with a funny or slightly unusual name that sticks even though it doesn't exactly express the message. Don't believe me? How about PayPal.com, eBay.com, Google.com, or even NoDiet4Me.com?

3. I was able to improve my search engine visibility, ranking, and results when I got my own domain name. Not only was having a domain name that reflected my internet business area of interest valuable insofar as the human surfer's eye was concerned, but it could improve my search engine ranking as well. This is invaluable, because a properly selected domain name can both reflect the interest of the human while better meeting the requirements of the search engine.

Just for an example, if my internet business is selling free web hosting, having the domain webhosting.xxx may be good, but freewebhosting.xxx is going to be even better. If someone is seeking free web hosting, freewebhosting.xxx is probably going to catch their eye because it is exactly what they are looking for. Also, if they search for "free web hosting", there is a chance that if I have done a good job of optimizing my website, the search engine they use will add my domain name into the factors it considers while fulfilling the request and will show my domain name first.

4. I was better able to market affiliate programs when I got my own domain name. When I started out in internet marketing all I knew how to do was join affiliate programs. If you have ever seen the links provided by many of these affiliate programs, you probably were appalled and wondered how anyone could ever use one of THOSE links to attract attention. They are full of question marks and strange codes, and they tend to be excessively long and often don't say anything about the business that is being promoted.

Once I got my own domain names, I was able to redirect visitors to the affiliate site while using a perfectly sensible sounding, and looking, domain name. I was able to put recognizable and rational sounding domain names on business cards, which would have been impossible with the affiliate link. I was also able to design information sites under my own domain name which carried links to the affiliate site.

NOTE: Many affiliate links have other problems than just being ugly or unwieldy. If you have an affiliate link that looks like bobsbarbecue.xxx/?affiliate=joan or bobsbarbecue.xxx/afid=1234, some search engines will only recognize the root domain, that is, bobsbarbecue.xxx, and ignore everything else.

Many affiliate pages don't actually have anything of interest to a search engine, such as titles, Meta tags, or content. This gets into another area, website design and search engine optimization, and that's outside the scope of this article. However, having your own domain, even a free one, can allow you to more effectively promote the affiliate program you have joined.

Finally, most affiliate pages look exactly alike, so you have no way to stand out from the crowd even if the page is fantastically designed and optimized to the max. However, if I get my own domain name, I can either redirect to the affiliate page, but use my own title and meta tags (and even content), or I can create a page of my own which leads visitors to the affiliate page through anchor text and other linking or lead building techniques. (Which are ALSO subjects of interest in their own right).

5. Once I got my own domain name, I was able to begin branding myself and some of my internet business sites and interests. Since I write articles like this all the time which carry links to various internet businesses with which I am involved, I have been able to create a brand name of sorts and have been able to interlink these sites, interests, and articles, thus creating a more visible internet image.

Domain Name Disputes on the Internet

Have you ever had a third party register a domain name that is either exactly the same or very similar to your trademark? If so, it may be a Cybersquatting issue. Cybersquatting is registering, trafficking in, or using a domain name with a bad-faith intent to profit from the goodwill of a trademark belonging to someone else. To address this issue, Congress enacted what is known as the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act ("ACPA"). The ACPA amended the Lanham Act by providing trademark owners with a civl remedy against cybersquatting.

If you're not sure how this may affect your business, let's run through some examples. The typical scenario is that the name of your product, or your company name is a registered trademark (or a strong common law trademark). However, you failed to register the domain name for whatever reason. Joe Schmo cybersquatter decides to beat you to the punch and registers the domain name of your trademark. He may have even registered plural versions or misspellings of your trademark as well (this is known as typosquatting). Joe Schmo cybersquatter is simply holding the domain name for ransom hoping to sell it back to you for a nice profit, or he may decide to keep domain name knowing that he will get a lot of traffic to his websites. The cybersquatter may sell products similar to yours or is simply engaged in affiliate marketing and makes money off of the clicks on his website. These situations can obviously cause consumer confusion and can easily cause lost profits to your company and dilution of your trademark(s) as well.

One avenue of recourse is filing an ACPA claim in federal court. The Plaintiff in an Anti-Cybersquatting suit must establish:

1. The Defendant has a bad faith intent to profit from the mark, including a defendant name which is protected as a mark;

2. registers, traffics in, or uses a domain name that--

(I) in the case of a mark that is distinctive at the time of registration of the domain name, is identical or confusingly similar to that mark;

(II) in the case of a famous mark that is famous at the time of registration of the domain name, is identical or confusingly similar to or dilutive of that mark; or

(III) is a trademark, word, or name protected by reason of 18 U.S.C. section 706.

However, you must distinguish cases where the cybersquatter is obviously acting in bad faith, from situations in which the individual has merely registered the domain with the good faith intent of doing something else with it (that is unrelated to trademark owner's goods and/or services).

The ACPA excludes a finding of bad faith where the domain name holder reasonably believed that the use was "fair use" or otherwise lawful. Accordingly, bad faith is the biggest component in an ACPA claim. So what is bad faith? There are several elements the federal courts will consider such as:

The trademark ownership rights held by the mark owner; The closeness of the domain name and the cybersquatter's name; The cybersquatter's commercial use of the domain name for access to a web site; The cybersquatter's intent to divert web traffic from the mark owner; The cybersquatter's offer to sell the domain name to the mark owner; Whether the defendant gave misleading information when registering the domain; and Similar or repeated cybersquatting on other marks. For example, in Hasbro Inc. v. Clue Computing Inc.[66 F. Supp.2d 177 (D. Mass 2000)], the district court held that Clue Computing's use of its registered domain name clue.com, was in fair use, despite Hasbro's existing registration of the trademark "Clue" for its famous board game. The two company's fields in which the names were used were not related; Clue Computing had registered the disputed domain name first, used it in legitimate commerce, and not attempted to sell the domain name to Hasbro.

UDRP or ACPA?

So if you've concluded that someone has cybersquatted one of your trademarks, should you file a ACPA lawsuit? You should consult your intellectual property lawyer about other possibilities such as the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy ("UDRP")"UDRP"). UDPR is an ICANN-approved arbitration that resolves domain name disputes submitted to ICANN for resolution. Very often (nearly 75% of UDRP cases) results in the cancellation of the cybersquatter's domain name registration. The standards to establish cybersquatting in UDRP cases for wrongful registration is very similar to ACPA's standards. Furthermore, UDRP proceedings are typically much less expensive and quicker (about 2-3 months total compared to ACPA which is federal litigation and may take years if not settled before trial). Another advantage with the UDRP is that it's well suited for international domain name disputes because the hearings are ex parte (based only on filed documents; no parties or witnesses are present). UDRP can be used in addition to an ACPA litigation or possibly done before or after an ACPA ruling because UDRP rulings are not binding upon the courts. Also, UDRP findings may be appealed. This is a departure from most arbitration practice (www.icann.org/udrp).

However, the remedies in UDRP proceedings are limited to only transfers of the domain name. Compared to an ACPA litigation, the Plaintiff may obtain monetary damages, attorney's fees and costs (in exceptional cases), and/or an injunction, in addition to the cancellation or transfer of the improper web domain name to the original owner. Furthermore, under ACPA the Plaintiff has the option of suing for statutory damages for $1,000 to $100,000, as the court deems just under the circumstances.

What to Do with Leftover Wine

Leftover wine may bring about problems for many of you that leftover food doesnt possess. While its easy to throw a vat of macaroni in a Tupperware bowl or wrap a piece of bread in a plastic baggie, the same cant be said for wine. When it comes to saving wine, there is no place for foil or Saran wrap.

This makes figuring out what to do with unused wine particularly challenging. And, it further perpetuates the idea that no wine should ever be left over. Just like we, as children, were taught to clean our plates before we could leave the table, as adults we must empty our bottles before well be excused.

Nonetheless, there are still instances when leftover wine simply cant be avoided, times when as a result of a party, a misjudgment of thirst, or a huge wine sale that could not be passed up wine must be kept another day. So, what do you do then? Well, move over whales, its time to save the wine.

Can I get an Ice Box?

Weve all been in the familiar situation of a restaurant meal we couldnt possibly finish. The portions of that fillet mignon were too large, too many drinks have been consumed, and weve just given our last antacid to the bus boy. At this point, theres only one thing that can be done: a box must be requested. This concept, for those who cant finish a bottle, also rings true for wine.

The ice box, for saving both red wine and white wine, is one of the first places to start. This may seem a bit opposite as red wine, by rule, is not typically served cold. However, after a bottle is open, keeping it in a cool, dry place may be the best chance of keeping it as fresh as possible. But, even with refrigeration, the remainder of the wine should still be consumed within three or four days; the longer it remains in the ice box, the more tasteless it will become, soon spitting nasty comments in the direction of the Arm and Hammer.

The freezer, not to be left out, also extends itself to our Save the Wine campaign. While wine is not usually frozen, except by those of you who are rare cravers of a port-sicle, left over wine can be placed in the freezer, and then used as cooking wine.

Put a Rubber Cork In It

The freshness the original wine cork keeps inside the bottle can never be replaced. As soon as that wine cork was extracted, wine began to fall victim to the air that entered. However, a rubber wine cork can be placed in the bottle to preserve some freshness, and keep it from spoiling further.

When this rubber wine cork is coupled with a pump, a device that is used to take air out of the bottle, the wine may be even fresher than with the rubber wine cork alone. However, some wine experts assert that this is not a good way to preserve wine, believing the device is simply putting on airs about taking it out.

Invent Wine Tupperware

The day when the containers used to store week old ravioli and leftover fried chicken can also be used to store Merlot is a day that is good for all mankind. However, this day may not ever come. One of the problems with the Tupperware used to store foods and liquids is that it also stores great amounts of oxygen. When it comes to leftover wine, oxygen is the number one nemesis, its least favorite element in the entire table.

Still, the idea of Tupperware doesnt have to be wasted on wine. Instead of using the plastic containers kept in your cupboard, purchase some smaller wine bottles. There are several wine stores that sell small wine bottles just for this purpose. These small bottles allow you to fill wine up to the top thus keeping air out and re-cork the bottle.

Get Gassy

For those of you who drink too much wine in one sitting, youve probably noticed that wine and gas can sometimes go together. However, when it comes to storing wine, a completely different gas is fortunately involved.

Private Preserve is a brand name of gas made with the intent of providing a blanket of freshness over your bottle of wine. The gasses in the Private Preserve are heavy, more so than air. This moves oxygen away from the wine, preventing the wine from spoiling. Because of its effectiveness, many restaurants and bars use it. With no components that alter the taste of wine, Private Preserve is subtle, safe, and environmentally friendly.

Buy Less, Drink More

Wine is easy to buy. Its a drink we often love unconditionally. Even a red wine carpet stain or the worlds worst hang over isnt enough to make us cut all ties; the vine, so very often, can not be severed. This is for one reason: wine is one of lifes greatest pleasures.

Because of this, its often easy to purchase large bottles when small ones are warranted. You may think you are doing the right thing, asking the stock boy to help you load a forty pound vat of wine into your cart, but you must keep in mind that wine is made from fruit, a food that spoils easily.

Instead of purchasing huge bottles of wine, try purchasing ones that you can actually finish in a single setting. This takes the entire problem of leftover wine out of the picture. This may seem more expensive, as often wine purchased in bulk is cheaper, but wasting wine or letting it spoil can get expensive too; it can certainly do a number on your bank account, not to mention your soul.

Leftover wine can be one of the hardest to deal with: its a high maintenance leftover. But, its not impossible to save extra wine in a manner that will keep it from spoiling. From refrigeration to a rubber cork, from using small bottles of wine to using specialized gas, there is sure to be a process that works for you. After finding which one is most efficient, youll be able to buy wine, drink wine, and keep some for later.... Just remember to soften the blow for the excess remaining by telling your leftover wine that just because its unused, doesnt ever mean its unwanted.

Watermelon Harvesting and Handling: An Insight

Watermelons are summer crops that need effective handling for quality production. To produce the red, juicy, crispy variety of melons, special care and attention is obligatory. To determine the quality and ripeness of watermelons without tasting is not an easy task as external color or appearance does not actually reveal the quality of the flesh inside. This task of determining the quality of watermelons without tasting requires the aid of a skillful hand.

Watermelons are warm, long season crops and grow best on well-drained sandy loam soils with slight acid. Sandy soils with adequate fertilizers yield very fine quality watermelons. Watermelon is fairly tolerant to soil pH as low as 5.5. Watermelon grows best where soil pH is between 6.0 and 7.0. Application of lime to a low pH soil can yield better results. Before planting the seeds of watermelons, much labor is invested to prepare the soil. In addition to plowing and disking, sub soiling beneath the row promotes deeper rooting in soils having a compacted layer. In case of strong winds, windbreaks of fall-planted wheat or rye or spring-planted hybrid Sudan helps to provide some protection to young plants. The windbreak crop between the rows is cultivated or disked out as the watermelon vines begin to run. A narrow windbreak strip can be left standing between rows for wind protection later in the season, but it should be undercut or killed with chemicals to reduce competition with the watermelon crop.

Depending on variety and season, watermelons reach harvest maturity five to six weeks after pollination. Different varieties of watermelons carry different characteristics, thus indicating different levels of maturity. Experts on the field can easily identify a ripe melon just by glancing at its glossy rind surface. Other indications of ripeness include a change in the color of the ground spot from white to light yellow

Be Proactive For Good Child Protection

We don't go very long these days without hearing about a child being abducting. It's a very scary thought for parents but you can take steps now to establish good child protection.

One of the biggest areas of vulnerability is any time you are getting in and out of your vehicle, especially with small children. If you are holding a baby, your hands aren't available to ward off an attacker. Whenever possible, observe the area you are about to enter before leaving the building you are in. Practice getting your key in the car door lock and house door as quickly as possible without having to focus on the locks. Practice getting children into your car and your home as quickly as possible.

Look into your car before getting in or placing a child in. Bad guys have been known to enter cars and wait until an unsuspecting person gets in. Whenever practical, walk around the entire car and look before getting in. Some criminals have caused damage that does not disable a car immediately, but down the road, away from a busy area.

Effective child protection requires some discussion with kids about strangers. Develop code words for anyone you trust to pick up your children and teach your little ones the code. Tell them not to ride or go with anyone who doesn't know the code. Tell children to trust their instincts. If they think somethings wrong with someone they meet, they should run away.

Warn children about common lures such as needing help finding a lost puppy, offers of candy or toys, and desires to take a picture. When children hear these approaches from a stranger, they should run fast to a safe place. Teach your children the safe places in your community they can escape to.

Teach your kids what to do if they get lost while shopping. They should go to the nearest security guard or cashier. They should not ask for help from a shopper they dont know or go into the parking lot to look for you.

Children can make a potential abductor panic and flee by screaming at the top of their lungs, "He's kidnapping me!" or "Fire!" which will quickly bring attention to the attempted abduction.

Top Five Trucks For Gas Mileage

A few years ago, people would scoff at you if you told them that you were looking for trucks with the best gas mileage. But, as truck sales began to slip downwards, manufacturers started giving due importance to this factor. Today, there has been a dramatic change in the scenario.

The rising costs of gas, has propelled potential truck buyers to go for trucks that can meet their gas mileage demands. Truck makers have now taken firm steps to improve the fuel economy of their makes at all levels.

Usually the ranking of the top five trucks based on gas mileage is founded on a combination factors. The prime parameters are the fuel economy rating given by EPA, the transmission of the vehicle, and its inherent popularity amongst car buyers. The formula for calculation for most gas mileage rankings is a combination of the city mpg rating, which forms 55 percent of criterion, and the highway mpg rating that completes the remaining criteria.

It is really very difficult to bring forth a list that enumerates the top 5 trucks on the basis of fuel efficiency. Not one, not two, but three trucks hold the first rank. This spot is shared by the 2006 Ford Ranger one of the premier trucks that are out in the market today. Ford has made it a point to come out with trucks that offer the best gas mileage. This is why most of their newer models find a place on the best gas mileage list year after year.

However, all the trucks, which feature in the list, have the same engine; the 2006 Ford Ranger is a supremely refined version of its older model that came out in 2005. It has the better off-road capability then other trucks in the rankings and is one of the best alternatives in your search for a truck giving you the best gas mileage.

The completely redesigned 2006 Toyota Tacoma comes next in the list. The Toyota Tacoma is one of the roomier trucks available in the market and its looks are an epitome of sophistication. The only disadvantage of the 2006 Toyota Tacoma is its price tag. It is more expensive then the others.

If you are looking for something on the cheaper side then the 2006 Mazda B-series is the truck that you must go for. A fuel-efficient truck delivers on its promise. It is called in some circles as the bargain pickup truck. Dont expect styling and comfort but you do get an unashamed practicality with this vehicle.

The Toyota Tundra is the next in line of your picks. It comes with 4.0 liter V6 engine that is geared to give you competitive gas mileage. The truck gives you a mileage of 20 /mpg on the highway and a 16/mpg when you drive in the city.

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 comes a close fifth in the rankings. It comes with a mild hybrid engine that enables the electric motor to keep the vehicles running when idle so the gas engine can be shut off.

Description: When looking for trucks with great gas mileage, the list can be pretty large. You will have a wide variety to choose from. Select the one that best suits your requirement. This article lists out the top five!

Advertising Nursery Products On TV - Part 1

Advertising various products on television successfully involves the consideration of several art forms. The most common advertising on TV involves the production of 30 second commercials, the 15 second commercials or other longer or shorter timed spots. With eye catching, interesting 30 second spots that are well thought out and developed, the targeted advertisement can create dramatic increases in sales results. Sometimes customers will show up at the front door of an advertising nursery business, only a few minutes after the the ad runs, that is, as fast as the viewer of the ad can drive to the business location. The quickness of the response will depend on how urgently the targeted customer feels compelled to rush out and decide whether or not to buy the product advertised. A customer may feel that a low priced sale product is a good buy, so there is an immediate impulse to purchase this product now, before a potentially limited inventory is sold out and no longer available.

Most sales resulting from TV ads are not sudden but occur only by the repetition of the ads, over and over. The repeated showing of TV ads reminds potential customers that the product can be conveniently purchased now, and thus, the ad may subconsciously create an impulsive need to buy that item in the mind-set of a potential customer. There is no question that the advertising works and has been dynamic and consistent in the success of participating business. Magazines, Newspapers, and the Internet, pay-per-click advertisers all have harvested the abundant rewards of presenting thoughtful advertising campaigns before the eyes and ears of the public. A plant nursery may find that it cannot generate enough income from hometown friends that will favorably allow his business expenses to support a profitable operation, enough to remain in business. If that plant nursery can draw in enough customers from a major trading area (100 miles), the plant nursery may attract an astounding amount of buyers of drive-in trade. The outcome of a TV advertising campaign depends on many factors.

Thirty years ago regional advertising was done primarily by showing static pictures of a nursery storefront in a 30 second ad that was accompanied by a background, announcers voice that promoted general nursery products offered by the advertiser. Early morning ads are less viewed, and the ads can be an inexpensive $50.00 each, whereas, soap opera TV and evening news reports draw thousands the TV screens, and the ads may cost hundreds of dollars each for a 30 second advertising exposure. Weekend advertising rates often can be one-half or less, in cost, than Monday through Friday advertising. Many TV stations will not generally take ad accounts unless the nursery budget allows, and contracts are enforced to spend at least $500 per week. Very often the nursery business sales will build up gradually with effective ad spots, week after week, with Saturday sale receipts dominating----primarily, because gardening is a busy activity planned by home gardeners for weekends. Buyers of nursery plants leave their weekday offices to buy trees flowers and shrubs on Saturday that can be planted during the weekend. Growing plants relaxes office workers and provides recreational relaxation and a personal planting opportunity to harvest fruit, berry and grape treat-rewards, unlike an impersonal signed office check from his employer for the office duties performed.

Some TV stations will offer to a consistent and valuable advertiser, a bonus story on news programs such as interviewing a nursery owner with such questions as: What is the best time to plant apple trees? What is the best variety of fig tree for planting in my area that will survive freezes? These bonus news interviews are often overwhelming in producing customer buyers and huge sales, if the informational news coverage is supplemented with frequent 30 second nursery plant ads.

For the most profound TV influence on garden buyers the TV station representative will outline to the advertiser certain age groups or income brackets of customers to target for maximum sales. For plant and nursery TV sales success, an advertiser will be directed to the weather reports that will target farmers and gardeners whose interests are strongly aligned with environmental changes in the weather, that directly contribute to planting outcomes. Some early morning weather reports offer small audiences, but the low cost of the ads may attract enough customers to make TV advertising rewarding for plant nursery operations.

A very important question on whether or not to advertise plants on TV is how many competitors are advertising similar plant products? If a total plant market is viewed on TV as a pie, the pie is only so large and the advertiser must retrieve a large enough market share or else the TV advertising may not be profitable to continue. Advertising low sales prices on common plants, such as flowering dogwood trees or grapevines, will lure in customers to buy low profit, marginal plants, but usually they will buy much more, thus, making sales profitable and advisable to continue running low price sales on TV .

An important consideration in using TV advertising is the realization that such businesses as automobile dealers may sell a car, as a result of advertising, that nets $30,000, so that such a high ticket item generates huge amounts of income to finance their TV advertising campaigns. A nursery owner can usually not hope to compete on high traffic programs such as nightly news programs with the idea of seeing an advertised item that might only generate $20 in sales against the strongly financed automobile dealers, unless the TV station understands the burden that a nursery operator faces. Sometimes TV management, for one reason or another, will offer the nursery advertiser a price handicap that makes sense.

For advertising on TV a 30 second commercial, a business must give a message that includes the products offered for sale, the location and name of the business being advertised and the phone number and website address. The 30 second advertisement of nursery plant products should mention 4 to 5 different plants with colorful photos of the plants, preferably plants of unrelated groups. Such separate groups might be: Oak tree, amaryllis bulb, peach tree, raspberry bushes.

Tips To Finding The Perfect Baby Care Center

One of the hardest decisions that a new mother must make is which baby care center to use for her child when it is time for her to return to work. The good news is that you can do much to alleviate the stress of this decision for you and your baby by taking the time to do some research before selecting the best baby care center for you and your child. There are some guidelines and criteria that you can follow to ensure that the baby care center you choose will offer the best care to meet your childs needs.

The first thing that you can look for is whether the day care is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This is probably the highest accreditation that can be given to a day care, so if there is one that you are considering with this mark to its name you can rest assured that it is a quality center. However, there are only about 6000 such centers around the country, so it is possible that you will need to move to other types of criteria in selecting the right center for you.

Reputation

A good reputation is paramount in a baby care center that you should consider. You can find out what a centers reputation is by talking to other moms and teachers in the area, or asking the center for references from its current client list. Some things to look for include the friendliness of the staff, and a nurturing environment for the children. It is also important that the baby care center has a good record when it comes to safety, so that you can rest assured that your little one will not come to harm while in the care of this staff.

Curriculum

Even while your child is very young, you want your baby care center to provide a stimulating environment that will allow your child to explore and learn. There should be a healthy combination of physical activity, quiet time with reading and free play opportunities. Time for meals and snacks should be a part of the schedule as well, and a safe outdoor play area is a good indication that your child will receive the benefits of fresh air and exercise. It is also good for a baby care center to offer time for group activities as well as individual time, such as nap time for the very young children.

Staff

Finally, you want your baby care center to provide a gentle, nurturing staff for the children with the proper adult to child ratio. For babies, this means one caregiver for every three or four children, and for toddlers this number goes up to one caregiver for every three to five kids. Ratios are extremely important in ensuring that your child will get the quality of care and attention that he requires.

Finding a quality baby care center can be a stressful challenge for some new mothers. The good news is that there are plenty of good guidelines to follow to ensure that your child receives the highest quality of care possible.

Looking For An Internet Home Business Opportunity? Is An Online Business Right For You?

The internet provides a very convenient and valuable platform to start an online home business but it must be handled with the same attitude and basic principles applied to a normal business. Do not be deceived by the promise of easy money on the internet otherwise you will certainly feel that you have been betrayed.

Avoid being sucked in by all the hype you will see on your monitor when searching for an internet home business opportunity. Keep your feet firmly on the ground and carefully think about what it takes to run an online home business and then decide if you are up to the challenge. This way instead of being disappointed or disillusioned you will be motivated to persevere and work hard to achieve success.

First and foremost the most important ingredient to a successful and profitable online home business is YOU. Nothing will happen unless you start out with the right attitude, approach and understanding that the internet is not a source of instant easy money nor is it a place that you can generate internet income without having to do any work.

Take a few minutes to think of the people you know that do own their own business, whether it be a service station, corner caf, computer repair shop or restaurant. Do you know the hours they work? Do they stop work when they close their doors to the public? No doubt, especially when they are just starting out they are taking work home and doing the bookkeeping after hours.

There is no doubt they work hard and long hours. They will have experienced good and bad times. But they are their own boss and are striving for financial freedom. Those serious about succeeding with their own business always work harder for themselves than they do for a boss.

Starting an online home business and turning it into a profitable home internet business requires the same approach and attitude. You need to be a hard worker continually prepared to learn, patient, determined, dedicated, persistent, as well as have the courage to persevere and keep going when the going gets tough.

The great advantage of starting an online home business is that it can be done from home, after hours for only a few dollars but this is perhaps the reason why so many assume that because it costs next to nothing to set up, compared to a normal business, it must be easy to make money doing absolutely nothing.

Creating a profitable home business online not only takes time, but daily consistent hard work and this is one of the reasons many people become disillusioned and quit. On starting an internet home business a beginner really has no idea of what lies ahead. But if they have the qualities mentioned above, stick at it and persevere they will look back after a year with pride and absolute amazement at what they have learnt, achieved and only then truly understand what it took to build a home internet business.

The journey is exciting and rewarding, even with its up and downs. There is no gain without pain and that is all part and parcel of building an internet home business with the aim of creating a second income or building a full time home business income.

This article may appear harsh and I may have disillusioned some readers, but you know what? I wish I had read an article like this prior to throwing valuable dollars down the drain and wasting many hours trying to make an income online without really knowing what I was doing or what was really required of me.

But, I was very persistent and never gave up and I finally found a program with full training and support. Now when I look back I cannot believe what I have learnt and what I have achieved and I hope that by highlighting the qualities required as well as the truth about building a successful online home business I will help more people achieve their financial dreams on the internet.

Fiber Optic Lights in Your Prom Updo

The newest sensation sweeping proms around the nation! Fiber optic lights in your hair that sparkle like a rock star. What am I talking about? This is a new product called Glowbys. These are hair barrettes with small batteries and fiber optic lights. These lights will glisten in your hair at your next dance or party as the darker the room and your hair, then the more sparkle you get.

But will it work with blonde hair? Of course. The fiber optic lights are so bright, they make blonde hair sparkle. I guess the only place they wouldnt work well would be in direct sunlight.

Fiber optics are like a plastic wire with the light source at one end. Then, you can trim this plastic to the length you need. Only the ends of the plastic are illuminated. The light follows the curve of the fiber optics no matter which way it twists or turns. Thats why the fiber optics can easily be sculpted into your updo or hairstyle with your hair. Its not like you are wearing lights, its like your hair is sparkling with tiny diamonds. It has amazing results and attracts attention from everyone, not just your date.

The glowby lights are attached by a barrette and can be worn under your hair so just the lights illuminate or there is a decorated version to wear like a regular barrette. They can be used over and over and if the batteries go out, simply replace them and you are sparkling again. They come in all colors to accent your dress or hair color. Diamond white, electric blue, deep violet, bright pink, ruby red, orange and yellow. You can also get a short one at 10 or the long one at 15 in length.

How much are they and where do I get them and what do they look like? They are inexpensive at around $13. I dont sell them. I just wanted to make you guys aware of what is out there and this is a fun updo idea for prom.

Youll be amazed at the attention youll receive from other guys and jealous un-glowby adorned females. Make your prom a hit and let your updo shine with these innovative lights.

Hotel Pay-Per-Click advertising: You do the math

The saying goes something like A fool and his money are soon parted and buying pay-per-click advertising without doing your math homework can quickly have hoteliers sharing the same fate.

Pay-per-click advertising (those Sponsor Results, Sponsored Links or Sponsored Sites above and to the right of the organic or natural search results on the major Search Engines) has to be one of the smartest money-making ventures of all time. Advertisers bid against each other in a frenzied auction environment, competing to appear higher up the list of ads that accompany the natural search results.

As of today, to appear at the very top of the page in the Sponsored Links in the UK for London Hotel will cost you over GBP1.30 per click; in the US over $3.00 for New York hotel; in Australia more than $2.60 for Sydney hotel and in France more than EURO1.40 for the search term Paris hotelthats per-clickit costs you nothing to show your ad but the moment someone clicks on the ad and is routed to your web site, the meter clicks over one more time and takes another little nibble from your credit card balance.

Developed by the really smart guys at the Search Engines, the pay-per-click auction environment encourages the great majority of inexperienced users to bid up the cost per click somewhere north of Vladivostokwhich it was probably designed to do. In the hotel arena, these inexperienced bidders are probably the same people who measure their performance in terms of ARR rather than RevPAR.

Still, its only a couple of bucks isnt it? Well, based on data that indicates that the majority of hotel web sites convert less than 2.0% of clicks that go through to the site, at $2.00 per click, it just cost you more than $100.00 to convert that sale!

Given the prices being bid per click at the moment, it appears that few hotel managers and marketers are doing that math, so we have prepared the Hotel Marketing Workshop Pay-Per-Click Calculator. You will be able to quickly and simply work out in advance, exactly what the maximum cost per click you ought to be paying based on your Average Online Room Rate, Average Online Length of Stay, Percentage Marketing Investment Per Sale and Estimated Conversion Rate.

Using this simple tool (its just a spreadsheet and some basic formulas), you will be able to choose what level of investment per click will give you a reasonable Return On Investment (ROI). And may prevent you from pouring your scarce marketing dollars down the porcelain through over-expensive clicks through to your web site. You can download it here or visit http://www.hotelmarketingworkshop.com and follow the links to this article and download it from there.

Now for that math lessonlets say you run a mid-scale inner-city hotel and your Average Online Room Rate is $200 and Average Online Length of Stay is 2 nights. You Revenue Per Online Sale is therefore $400. Now, before your eyes glaze over, its not much more complex, just keep following the bouncing ball a bit longer.

Most hotels allocate somewhere between 3.0-7.0% of revenues to marketing expenses, so lets keep it simple and say that you would normally spend 5.0% of your $400 revenue on marketing costs ie $20.00. Your web site converts 2.0% of visitors to sales (1 in 50 sad isnt it but that is the average conversion rate and yours may well be lower) which means that you should only spend a maximum of $0.40 per click on pay-per-click ($20.00 x 2.0% = $0.40)not much is it? $0.40 will get you on about page seven in most markets for high volume keywords. Maybe your bookings for next month are looking a little soft so you are prepared to up your Percentage Marketing Spend to 10.0% of Revenue Per Online Sale or $40.00; that still means a maximum cost per click of $0.80 to give you a modest ROI.

So, why in the name of Conrad Hilton is the price bid today for the key phrase your destination hotel up to $3.00 per click on Yahoo Search Marketing and even higher on Google?

If you reverse engineer the math, at $3.00 per click with a 2.0% conversion rate and a 5.0% marketing investment and a 2 night stay, your hotel would need to be achieving an Online ARR ofwait for it$1500.00 per night; perhaps in parts of Saudi Arabia that may be achievable but seldom in downtown anywhere else.

And the Search Engines are smiling all the way to the bankeven at a 5.0% conversion rate and 10.0% marketing investment thats $300.00 per night; a not unheard of ARR, but 5.0% web site nett conversion rates and a 10.0% marketing investment are rarified numbers indeed for many hoteliers and their web sites.

So, what can you do to make PPC work for you? Its all there in the formula:

research keywords that arent so actively competed for that are still relevant for your target audience and bid on those less volume yes, but a much more reasonable cost per click

extend your key phrases that you bid on to three or four words downtown boutique your destination hotel as these phrases are again not so actively competed for

select and implement the very best Web Booking Engine you can find to make that final step to conversion as user-friendly as possible

increase your Revenue Per Online Sale by either increasing online rates or encouraging longer stays

find and be prepared to pay a professional to manage your pay-per-click investment with the skills to maximise click through rates and the lowest cost per click

call Hotel Marketing Workshop to help you increase your conversion rate through a better web site experience (oopsthat darn commercial keeps sneaking in)

OR you could just keep bidding up the cost per click like everyone else and slowly go broke while the Search Engines keep charging your credit card

At Hotel Marketing Workshop we dont actually manage pay-per-click advertising for clients; theres nothing wrong with PPC when well-managed but we just prefer to do what we do bestdeveloping and designing great web sites that maximise the conversion of visitors (from whatever source PPC, Search Engine Optimisation, referrals from inbound links, online and offline ad campaigns) to online revenues.

And we are happy to help you find and select a PPC advisor as part of your overall hotel internet marketing strategy and work with them to maximise your online revenuesand were OK at the math too!
